Here is the June 2025 Newsletter.

Sugadaira Training Camp

The SIRC Sugadaira Training Camp had been held at the same time for children from preschool to primary school age groups, but this year we have decided to have it in July and September as follows.The main purpose is to increase the number of opportunities for local matches: the Tag Rugby Group (U7-U8) and the Mini Rugby Group (U9-U12). We are also considering a separate training camp in Sugadaira for Shogun. The preschool group will not be participating in the Sugadaira training camp this year.

  • Tag Rugby Group  (U7-U8):July 19th to 21st
  • Mini Rugby Group (U9-U12):September 13th to 15th

Takahiro Kimura Rugby Academy – Saturday, June 14th, Azabudai Campus

Takahiro Kimura, played as a scrum half for Suntory Sungoliath, will hold a special session for SIRC children.

Content

  • Kimura’s pass skill session with the motto ‘Be passionate and you’ll be the best! Improve your skills in one session.’ You will thoroughly master the basic passing skills that are useful in actual games.

Date and time

  • 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, 14 June

  • 1,500 yen

Colts to play friendly match against California high school team on 22 June (Sun) at Nagasawa Ground

Colts will play an international friendly match against the California Grizzlies, a high school team from the United States, who will be visiting Japan at the end of this month. https://www.cagrizzlies.com/ Kick-off is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on 22 June (Sun).


Vice President Duncan to the British School in the Netherlands

Vice President Duncan Gray, who has been coaching various age groups since 2018, has been appointed as the headmaster of the British School of Amsterdam in the Netherlands and will be leaving Japan in early July. Duncan has played a significant role in SIRC’s coaching, including establishing the girls’ team Reds in 2022. SIRC Representative Koji Tokumasu to appear on NHK’s ‘New Project X’

On Saturday, 28 June, NHK will air a special rugby programme as part of its ‘New Project X’ series, featuring SIRC’s Representative Koji Tokumasu in his capacity as the former director of the bid committee for the 2019 Rugby World Cup. The programme will trace the historical journey of Japanese rugby, from the devastating defeat of the national team at the 1995 Rugby World Cup in South Africa to the remarkable progress made by the team at the 2019 tournament.
