Attention of the world

AFP (Agence France-Presse), the world’s oldest news agency, covered a SIRC training session and recent events in their publication, and the previous week, a TV station from France came to film us.
We were also featured on the ACUMEN, a magazine by the British Chamber of Commerce in Japan (BCCJ).

With less than one hundred days left until the Rugby World Cup 2019, rugby in Japan is definitely attracting international attention!!

Joint train report with French school

On June 16th, we had a meeting with the International French School Rugby Club at Showa Women’s University, under the clear sky, turning from the rain the day before. After the joint training, Jr. Samurai and Samurai teams had exciting games. It was nice to see where French is mixed with shout from parents who usually speak English and Japanese. After the game, we had a group photo which children were all showing smiling faces. Let’s meet again at the next exchange event. It was a wonderful day.

RE: Farewell & Thanks Party for Brian (BST Principal & SIRC Coach) on Monday 1st July

We will be hosting a Sayonara Party for Brian Christian who is retiring from The British School in Tokyo at the end of the school year. Brian has been instrumental in helping establish the club, not only with providing us with much needed playing grounds but also joining the coaching staff and providing his invaluable time.

The last day of the school term on July 5th will mark his final day after a career spanning 4 decades. He was awarded an MBE earlier this year and received it from Prince William at Buckingham Palace for “contritbution to international education”. He plans to retire to the Yorkshire with his wife Linda, but he is planning to return to Japan for the world cup to watch a few England games with his sons.
Please join us in expressing best wishes to Brian and to thank him for his commitments to the club.
